About me 👋

Hey, I’m Jacobey. My design journey started back in high school on a free trial of Photoshop. I’d spend hours watching YouTube tutorials and browsing design forums, mostly trying to figure out how NHL teams made their social media graphics. What began as simple curiosity turned into a creative outlet. I even did some freelance work while I was still in school.

I originally studied economics in university, but after an internship doing taxes, I realized that wasn’t where my passion was. I decided to lean into design instead and landed a graphic design internship, where I got exposure to the UX/UI team.

From there, I taught myself Figma, dug into design frameworks and human behaviour, and took every opportunity to learn. I went on to intern as a UX/UI designer at a startup cannabis company that was later acquired, and eventually with the WSIB where my love for product design really took off.

Having played just about every sport growing up, joining OwnersBox felt like the perfect fit. I now lead the design direction across all four of our games, shaping how players experience and engage with the platform. It’s a role that challenges me to think creatively and strategically every day, blending the best parts of design, gaming, and sports.

I’m a big believer in continuous learning, and recently I’ve been diving deeper into front-end development.
