Overview
I've been a Spotify user for as long as I can remember. I love the UI and the experience that I get using the app. One issue I always have is trying to find new music similar to songs I enjoy. I've tried everything from the Discover Weekly playlist to creating a radio station based from the song I've had on repeat.
The issue that keeps occurring is Spotify's curated user playlist consist of music that I already have saved. I when I want to listen to new music and I end up hearing old songs that I've heard 100 times prior.
To solve this, I designed a new feature that could be implemented into the Spotify app that would leverage AI technology to curate unique playlisst for users.
The Result
This AI-powered feature transforms how users discover music on Spotify. By removing duplicates, using conversational AI, and allowing playlist saving, this feature makes music exploration more effortless and engaging.

The Problem
Finding fresh music should be an exciting experience, but Spotify’s current recommendation system often falls short by serving users the same familiar tracks they already know.
Engaging in conversations with the users of the app uncovers common pain points that show there is a need for improvmeent in their experience.
The Solution
To overcome the challenges that many users have faced, I designed an AI-powered feature that provides users with a more personalized and powerful way to find new music. This section highlights the key features that make this solution effective
AI Chat
Displays an overview of all assets and employees. Including filters and search functionality.
No Duplicates
The AI checks agianst the user's library to esnure already saved song are not included. The user can easily enable this option.
Covert to Playlist
Users can convert the generated radio to a playlist. Allowing them to add the songs to an existing playlist or creating a new one.
Conversation UX
Rather than selecting multiple filters, users can explicitly type what they want to see and what they don't want.

A user's experince is crucial when designing a feature that will solve for pain points. AI may seem daunting for many indivduals and that is why the experience should be as simplified as possible. Below is a step-by-step breakdown of how users would interact with the new feature
Conversational Experience
User's can access the AI feature by pressing on the button, explicitely telling them that they are entering a AI-powered chat. The user then engages with the AI by providing songs that they have enjoyed. The AI will clarify with the user if they want to include the mentioned song in the radio station.
Saving the Station as a Playlist
